PepeHands Meaning
PepeHands is a Twitch emote of a certain iteration of the forever popular Pepe the Frog meme. Pepe is seen holding his hands up in front of him, tears streaming down his face. This is often used to express sadness or disappointment.
PepeHands Origin
Like many other different Pepe the Frog images, it started its journey by being uploaded to FrankerFaceZ Twitch extension on September 18th, 2016 by a user named OinkerBob. Like most other emotes published here, it took until July of the next year to gain traction.
This happened when the emote was posted on /r/forsen, the subreddit of the Popular streamer Forsen, to post memes or suggest new emotes to be implemented into his stream. The post only got 89 upvotes and a few comments, and it wasn’t until Forsen saw the post and mentioned it on stream that it started to actually blow up. Since his streams can be in the tens of thousands, this gave the emote a crazy jumpstart into the Twitch community. Pretty soon everyone began using it and it infiltrated almost every streamer’s community.
Example
If a steamer ever starts discussing something sad or reminisces about old times there’s a good chance the whole chat is filled with PepeHands.
